Jan 05, 2006· Wow what the heck are you guys doing to your t5's. I have had a t5z in my car for... uh over four years now and never have had a problem. Im pretty positive my last engine was making more power than it is rated for too. I never power shift though, that i know is a big no no with the t5. I even blew the crap out of my 8" with 4 people in teh car.

Mar 15, 2018· I now have a successfully installed T5 in my 69 Nova behind a 396 with around 450 hp. Transmission, used Lake Wood bellhousing, modified driveshaft, brand new clutch assembly and fork was under $3500 CDN with minimal fab work and weighs in at 75lbs. The straighter cut gears have a great whine to them, even better then the Rock Crusher!
Feb 22, 2021· The T5 is an enjoyable trans. to drive if it has a nicely operating clutch, a good shifter, and well matched gearing. But I have driven a V8 T5 for tens of thousands of miles with 3.73 rear and really enjoyed it. And didn't enjoy thousands of miles with a V6 T5.
Apr 03, 2009· With a short shifter on my Tremek and Pro 5.0 in my 85 - sometimes I find myself having to lean forward a little trying to catch 3rd. Shouldn't need to do that now. I'm going to pick up an aftermarket shift boot like the old square Hurst Universal boots and bolt that into place rather than putting the factory boot on.

Jan 08, 2008· The ends of the shifter rods, that fit into the linkage arms and shifter can wear as well, causing a loss of travel. So, with your engine OFF, put your trans in 2nd gear, crawl under the car and look at the rod that goes to the 1-2 shift linkage on the trans. It is the rear arm that is located on the Side Cover of the trans.

Feb 05, 2011· Thing is I kinda like the upr rock crusher handle and it wont attach to the mgw. I'm 6'1" and I've gotta have the seat back all the way but it usually leaves me reaching for the upper gears. Hence the rock crusher handle... brings the knob closer to the driver.

May 20, 2011· I am using the UPR Rock Crusher on my car. I also have a Steeda TriAx shifter. The reach is a full reach for me going to reverse (I have a 6 speed so it is far right and top). Not uncomfortable but IMHO looks better than a really tall handle. Here is a couple pictures showing in 1st and 2nd gears.
